ABOUT LAURA
Praised for her "bubbly" personality (Broadway World) and her "enchanting" stage presence (Opera Today), soprano Laura Broscow has enjoyed performing on stages across the US since graduating with her Masters degree from Michigan State University in 2018.
​
In the 2022-2023 season, Laura will be seen as the soprano soloist with Houston Masterworks for their presentation of Handel's Messiah.
​
Recent highlight performances include Laura's performance as the soprano soloist for Houston Chamber Choir's presentation of James Whitbourn's Annelies, the first major choral adaptation of Anne Frank's Diary of a Young Girl. The concert was performed in commemoration of the expansion of the Houston Holocaust Museum, which was the venue for the event, in which Whitbourn was in attendance. Laura also performed at the Stage Stars of Tomorrow Gala Concert at Mississippi Opera following her win at the John Alexander National Vocal Competition.

In the 2018-2019 season, Laura joined Toledo Opera and returned to Opera Grand Rapids as First Boy in The Magic Flute, and made role and company debuts as Papagena with Pacific Opera Project. Laura made her Texas debut with Opera Leggera for their "Cinema Fantastic" production, where she portrayed Maria in The Sound of Music, Magnolia Hawks in Showboat, and Maria in West Side Story. She closed the season performing scenes from Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore (Adina) and Offenbach's Christopher Columbus (Gretel) with Kingwood Summer Opera.

In the 2016-2017 season, Laura was seen as First Bridesmaid in Le nozze di Figaro with Opera Grand Rapids.
Graduate work performance highlights include Gretel in Hansel and Gretel and Rose Maurrant in Street Scene. She was also an outreach artist with Michigan State’s first-ever Outreach Opera Program, where she traveled around Michigan performing opera and musical theatre in schools across the state.
A native of Southern California, Laura completed her undergraduate music studies at University of Arizona where she sang the roles of Colette in Gluck’s L’Ivrogne corrige and Miss Pinkerton in The Old Maid and the Thief. She was also awarded in the Marguerite Ough Vocal Competition, the Amelia Rieman Opera Competition, and Arizona Opera Guild’s “Quest for the Best” Competition.
Ms. Broscow has attended several prestigious summer training programs, most notably Opera in the Ozarks, where she sang Barbarina (Susanna cover) in Le nozze di Figaro and Mrs. Hayes in Susannah, as well as Le Chiavi di Bel Canto at the Texas Music Festival, and CoOPERAtive.

Laura currently resides in Houston, TX where she serves as director of Lessons in Your Home Houston, where she facilitates music lessons and teachers throughout the Greater Houston area. She also regularly sings as a cantorial soloist at Houston Hillel and Congregation Emanu-El, and is a proud board member of her local Opera on Tap chapter.​
